SAO PAULO, May 6 (Reuters) - Brazilian investment holding
Peninsula Participações, owned by retail tycoon Abilio Diniz, is
launching this week a new asset management firm, O3 Capital.
O3 Capital has begun offering a local Brazilian hedge fund
this week in which Peninsula invested 1.5 billion reais ($285
million) with a commitment of keeping the money in the fund for
three years, Peninsula's vice chairman Eduardo Rossi said.
Peninsula, which currently manages 12 billion reais ($2.3
billion) was created as Diniz' family office, has relevant
stakes in companies such as BRF SA BRFS3.SA and Carrefour
Brasil CRFB3.SA and a portfolio of private investments.
In an videoconference, Diniz said he has been mulling
opening his holding vehicles to outside investors for some
years. Peninsula also has a portfolio of private companies that
include e-commerce firms and food businesses, and intends to
launch a private equity fund available to outside investors in
July.
